ZEN LION

This week I really did have a Tedious Tuesday in every sense of the word. This time, however it was not my kids or husband that were taxing me and pushing me to my limits. It was my personal endeavors and aspirations in life to be better. To be an inspiring voice on this planet, not just as a woman, wife and mother, but also as a soulful, passionate contributor on this planet.

Being a strong woman and dealing with a lot of other strong people can be challenging. I have had a lot of obstacles in starting a new business and sharing my voice, and there have been many times that I’ve questioned if it’s all worth it. For now, I say yes! One thing I’ve learned about myself is that I’m stronger than I appear to be.  I have grown a lot from the young woman I used to be and somewhere along the line I’ve learned discernment. I have always been a straight forward, no sugar coating, quick-witted dame who wasn’t afraid to say it like I mean it.  Sometimes that meant an impromptu cuss out! Yes, you know what I mean ladies and I know, you know, who can take you there. Apparently with age comes a bit of wisdom as well. I have learned that everything I’m thinking does not need to be said. Especially if in the long run it’s not going to be in my best interest. Now, I’m not telling my brave, independent, intelligent sisters to be passive. I’m just saying to take your time, watch your words and pick your battles. Then, after all that, if someone still wants to awaken your inner beast and disturb your otherwise peaceful world, cuss them out or meditate a little more. Kidding, but not.

Now, through meditation and years on the planet, I’ve learned to listen, watch and wait to see the outcome. You see sometimes you don’t have to say anything at all. Some people and situations will hang themselves. I call this the “Zen Lion”. Having a plan, being focused and determined despite your obstacles is a win in the long run. The end game is how you win ladies. So keep your eye on the prize. If you stop and respond to every barking dog you’ll never make it to the finish line.
