I love brunch! Sometimes I love brunch so much that it serves as a religious experience. Yes that’s right, religious as in the devout, reverent and committed act of having quiche and champagne, bagels and locks with your girlfriends on a Sunday afternoon. Free of anyone calling you mom or asking you to make them something to eat. Last Sunday I had the pleasure of having brunch in Washington DC at BLUE DUCK TAVERN…with some very special ladies! Some of the standouts were the pecan sticky buns, the sorbet mimosas and the breakfast sandwich. My absolute favorite, the best of the best, was their smoked gouda grits. The presentation alone made me come home and buy some raspberry sorbet so that I could wake up and make my own sorbet mimosa. Perhaps maybe even on a Monday.
