More than Sips by the Sea: Babettes Brunch

While the kids and I were back East this summer we stumbled upon quite the gem! If you have never been, Babette’s in East Hampton, is a 20 year old institution known for its farm to table principles serving up local, organic dishes with a seasonal flair. With an eclectic ambiance, a menu rich in flavor and variety, I was hooked! The name Babette was inspired by the enchanting and bewitching film Babette’s feast, the story of one woman who awakens the senses of a town through healthy, fresh food and wine. (My kind of Woman). Now, on the West Coast, you too can enjoy the perfect brunch spot which is conveniently located in Newport Beach just adjacent from the stunning Crystal Cove State park!

Now lets get to the Brunch Menu, designed for herbivores and carnivores alike, which is served until 3pm, Gasp!  Not only have they continued their focus on “locally sourced and globally inspired” concepts but they lured a well known mixologist from NYC, who has carefully selected a team to serve up organic infused juices with fresh herbs bringing you creations such as, The Bella Rosa ~ muddled strawberries, lemon, ginger beer and wildflower infused vermouth, Which I found to be seriously refreshing, or the Can’t Elope Martini! On the go or not in the mood, try the juice bars top sellers,  ‘Fearless’, ‘Radiate’,  and ‘Redefine’ which are a few of the many organic juices and smoothies.  For egg lovers I had the amazing Farmhouse Breakfast Sandwich using organic eggs from pasture-raised hens, broccoli rabe, sundried tomato aioli, organic greens all on perfectly grilled country bread, or I’d recommend the most poplar dish,The Eggs Benedict, Cali style. The dish begins with a base of lightly mashed crispy fingerling potatoes topped with two poached eggs, a layer of house cured salmon, and a champagne hollandaise. My son had the cinnamon swirl french toast and turkey sausage. He is a major sausage connoisseur so when he said it was the best sausage ever had, that was big. My daughter had the yellow tail poke which we both loved. All in all, we had a great brunch, a amazing walk on the the beach feeling full of Natures Garden!
